Best Tahoe ski resort for intermediate snowboarders?

It’s that time of year again… to go snowboarding of course.

I’ve only been to Kirkwood, which was great; Heavenly, which was not because it was overpriced and overcrowded; and Big Bear (although that’s so cal), which was also not that great. I’ve heard of many others, like Sugar Bowl, Squaw, Donner, Sierra-at-Tahoe, and Northstar and I was wondering which is your favourite ski resort for SNOWBOARDING. I’m intermediate and so are my cousin and friends; we like slopes and would like to learn a few tricks, but nothing too fancy or hard. Also, what hotels/motels/inns/lodges are a good place to stay around the resort? No cabins or condos because I’m not going in a big group, just around 4-5 of us.

Thanks!

Boreal has long been known as the "snowboarder’s" resort at Tahoe. In fact, there was a period of a few years there where it was the only major resort at Tahoe that allowed snowboarders at all. It has a good variety of terrain and parks for snowboarders of all skill levels.

As for where to stay, its right next door to Truckee, California. So just hit hotels.com and see who is having a deal for the dates you want to go.

Air Intake Installation GMC Yukon, Sierra, Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, Avalanche and Escalade

K&N has designed a performance air intake system for the 2007 GMC Yukon and Sierra, 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban and Avalanche and the 2007 Cadillac Escalade. K&N dynamometer tests show a 17.54 horsepower gain at 4917 RPM with use of this K&N air intake modification. K&N tests multiple vehicles for each air intake kit it makes to ensure a consistent horsepower and torque gain. This video demonstrates the steps needed to install a power gaining K&N air intake into select GMC Yukon and Sierra, Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban and Avalanche and the Cadillac Escalade. Refer to each intake’s instruction sheet for full installation details.

Which ski area in Lake Tahoe is the best?

Alpine Meadows http://www.skialpine.com/
Heavenly http://www.skiheavenly.com/
Kirkwood http://www.kirkwood.com/main.asp?pID=43
Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe http://www.mtrose.com/
Northstar-at-Tahoe http://www.northstarattahoe.com/
Sierra-at-Tahoe http://www.sierraattahoe.com/
Squaw Valley USA http://www.squaw.com/
I need help choosing which one is best ’cause I’m planning on going there and learning how to snowboard

Each mountain has its plus’s and minus’s. Kirkwood is a great mountain but I wouldn’t recommend it for a beginner snowboarder – you just wont appreciate it as much and it’s a little off the beaten path – not much around and it’s a bout 45 minutes from South Lake Tahoe. I’d cross Mt Rose, Sierra at Tahoe and Kirkwood off your list – they’re out of the way and have other issues. My top choice fo you would be Northstar – they have a great lesson program, good long beginner and intermediate trails and fun snowboard parks if you want to do some tricks. The new Northsar Village is also a pretty cool place to hang out. Squaw is too expensive (although it’s definately fun and worth it if you can take advantage of the terrain) and Alpine is great but a much smaller place.
Heavenly also isn’t bad – it’s in South Lake Tahoe near a bunch of cheap lodgin options and casinos…Heavenly has a free ski shuttle that runs throughout town (opn the main road) so if you’re staying anywhere near the main drag, you wont have to drive.
